Actor-turned-director John Krasinski has been a fan favourite to take over the role of The Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic for a long time, and now that Marvel’s first family is in the hold of Disney and Marvel Studios, there’s a chance to reboot the franchise once more.
And it seems that Krasinski is down to take part if Marvel want him.
Speaking to Total Film Magazine, Krasinski spoke about potentially taking on the role:
“You’re like, ‘Do you have any interest in not shattering people’s dreams?’” he told the publication. “I would love to be in the Marvel universe. I love those movies because they’re fun, but I also think they’re really well done. And certainly a lot of my friends are in those movies. I have no idea what [Marvel] are thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to consider me because I would love it.”
These rumours really took off when Marvel released one Fantastic Four comic in which Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic shared a striking resemblance to Krasinski.
Total Film followed this up by asking whether the A Quiet Place director would ever consider helming a Marvel flick:
“Oh man, directing one of those things? I don’t think I’m your guy. But if I was to act in one? I’d have so much fun.”
In my opinion, he would be an excellent Reed Richards, and I’m also very much behind the fan-favourite idea that Krasinski’s real-world wife, Emily Blunt should play his on-screen wife, Sue Storm a.k.a. The Invisible Woman. Just imagine the possibilities.
