DC’s Justice League movie is bringing the team together for an epic showdown, but while the hero quota is higher, it seems that one classic villain will not be making an appearance.
A test screening for the first cut of the superhero movie is said to include absolutely no sign of Superman villain Lex Luthor.
Jesse Eisenberg appeared as the iconic bald villain in the rather disappointing Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it’s been reported that he did do some work on Justice League. However, Batman News on Twitter has claimed to have spoken to fans who attended the early screening, and has reported that there’s no sign of Eisenberg in the version that was shown.

Justice League has had a pretty rough ride, with original director-producer team Zack and Deborah Snyder leaving the project after a family tragedy in May. And though there was no argument when Joss Whedon was chosen as replacement director, changing hands at that stage of the production would have still been a massive hurdle to overcome. There’s also been rumours that the movie is going through a lot more reshoots than expected (which isn’t that much of a surprise on a movie of this scale), but let’s not forget the drama around Henry Cavill’s Mission: Impossible 6 moustache, which has meant more work on the editing.
It’s also possible that Joss Whedon could still make changes to the cut of the film before its November release, so we might end up seeing Lex Luthor after all.
However, whether Eisenberg makes an appearance or not, Justice League certainly isn’t lacking in star power. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will all be reprising their roles as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman – and other cast members include, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.
Justice League is set for release on November 17th.
