Thanos has been weaving in and out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years now, and with Avengers: Infinity War rapidly approaching, we finally get to see the villain in action. And according to Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, the film’s opening scenes will cement him firmly in the role of the MCU’s biggest villain yet.
In an appearance at Brazil’s Comic-Con, Feige let slip to fans what they could expect from Thanos’ arrival:
“Within the first five minutes of Infinity War, people will understand why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
You know, we’ve been teasing Thanos since the very first Avengers film. Remember the end of Avengers, the very end of the movie he turns around in the chair and you realize something bad is coming. We’ve been teasing him for years and the trick is when you tease something for that long you have to deliver.”
Given that Ragnarok’s ending sees Thor and Loki watching as Thanos’ Sanctuary II rises from the depths and the Infinity War trailer has the Asgardian onboard the Milano with the Guardians, seeming more than a little confused as to where he is, this seems to suggest that something happens with Thanos in the interim. With Thor alone onboard the Guardians’ ship, we may see Thanos take the Asgardian ship for his own – or even destroy it.
Avengers: Infinity War comes to theatres on April 27th in the UK, and May 4th in the US.
