The father of Star Wars, George Lucas has spoken, praising director Rian Johnson for his new entry into the franchise, labelling it “beautifully made.”

After a recent screening of the film (let’s face it, George Lucas probably gets a copy of the film hand-delivered to his house) Lucas told The Hollywood Reporter, through his rep Connie Wethington, that he admired the way in which Johnson had crafted the film, “And in speaking with director Rian Johnson after viewing was complimentary.”

Though no longer directly involved in the franchise, following its sale to Disney, Lucas has praised the new Star Wars movies, and with George Lucas’ praise and The Last Jedi holding on to a 94% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes since reviews came out Tuesday, how much more convincing do we need?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on December 14th.
