Star Wars alum Mark Hamill has revealed that he’s interested in joining the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it seems that writer/director James Gunn is definitely on board.

Part three of the Guardians franchise is in the early stages of development, with filming not expecting to start until early 2019, as Marvel are eyeing a Summer 2020 release date, however we won’t have to wait long to see the Guardians on screen, as they will be joining the rest of the MCU in this summer’s Avengers: Infinity War, as well as its sequel. So, since the story for GotG Vol.3 is relatively unknown, now is the perfect time for Hamill to toss his hat into the ring.

After a fan reached out to Gunn on Twitter, to ask whether he’d consider finding a role for the Star Wars icon in the franchise, Gunn revealed that he would be open to discussing it with the actor. Which was when Hamill himself joined the conversation, saying he “would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbour & an unemployed actor.”

And it just got more interesting from there:

Like they say, it’s not what you know, it’s who you live next door to.

Obviously, this is in no way a confirmation of Hamill joining the MCU, but with both parties expressing an interest, it isn’t beyond the realm of reason to think this could happen. Frankly, it would just be funny to see Mark Hamill come face-to-face his spiritual son, Sebastian Stan, in an MCU project, be it Guardians, or any other film.

Basically, let’s get Mark Hamill in the MCU.
