Marvel Comics announced at last weekend’s SDCC that Uncanny X-Men will return as the flagship title in the X-Men franchise this fall.

Unfortunately, they didn’t announce a lot about the series beyond that, as we don’t yet know the release date or creative team behind the relaunch. However, with both X-Men Blue and X-Men Gold ending this September, it’s clear that this relaunch will be used to fill the void.

Marvel revealed a little more about the other big X-Men titles, as October will see the release of an X-Men Black miniseries to be released weekly, consisting of five one-shots centring around specific villains.

The full miniseries consists of:

  • X-Men Black: Magneto #1 by Chris Claremont & Dalibor Talajic
  • X-Men Black: Emma Frost #1 by Leah Williams & Chris Bachalo
  • X-Men Black: Mojo #1 by Scott Aukerman & Nick Bradshaw
  • X-Men Black: Mystique #1 by Seanan McGuire & Marco Failla
  • X-Men Black: Juggernaut #1 by Robbie Thompson & Shawn Crystal

As well as this, each issue will feature a backup story from Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson, centring around Apocalypse.

It remains to be seen whether these comics will be a precursor to the Uncanny X-Men series, or whether they will simply fill in the gap between X-Men Blue/Gold’s end and Uncanny X-Men’s relaunch.
