Having proved his acting range in films like Creed and Fruitvale Station, Michael B. Jordan is looking to expand his range, planning to produce, write and direct The Stars Beneath Our Feet.
Endeavour Content won the rights to David Barclay Moore’s book in September this year, and they are now looking for Jordan to tackle the adaptation.
The story follows 12-year-old Lolly Rachpaul, a boy grieving the death of his older brother who was killed in a gang-related shooting months earlier. Lolly’s mother’s girlfriend then brings him a gift that changes everything – two bags filled with Lego. He has always loved Lego and prides himself on following the kit instructions to the letter. Now, faced with a pile of building blocks and no instructions, Lolly has to find his own way.
Jordan told Deadline: “Directing has been an area I’ve wanted to explore for some time now. The Stars Beneath Our Feet tells a story that really spoke to me, and I’m looking forward to jumping behind the camera. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some very smart and talented directors and it inspired me to take on this new challenge.”
For the moment, however, Jordan has a few upcoming projects, like Creed 2, a HBO adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, and Marvel’s Black Panther.
