Yep – 9.

Guardians of the Galaxy actor Michael Rooker has joined Universal’s Fast & Furious 9, in the role of Buddy – a last-minute addition to the production, which is already underway.

Rooker joins the already star-studded cast, including Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Helen Mirren.

Dan Casey wrote the script from a story by Justin Lin, and Diesel is producing through his One Race Films production company, with Lin producing for Perfect Storm Entertainment.

This is just one of the many high-profile roles that Rooker has lined up for 2020, as he will also star in Blumhouse/Sony’s Fantasy Island, Paramount’s Monster Problems, and Amazon’s The Dark Tower pilot. He also starred opposite Mahershala Ali in Season 3 of HBO’s hit series, True Detective, which landed nine Primetime Emmy nominations this year.

Fast & Furious 9 is currently slated for release on May 22nd, 2020.
