EA have announced that teams and players from the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) will be playable for the first time ever when NBA Live 18 launches later this year.
Speaking in a statement, Executive Producer Sean O’Brien commented on the new addition stating:
“The WNBA is home to some of the most incredible athletes on the planet, and we’ve been working hard to integrate them into our game in an authentic and meaningful way. This is only a taste of what we have in store, and look forward to working with the league on more great integrations in the franchise in the future.”
All 12 teams will be available when the game launches with head scans from top stars such as Maya Moore, Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart and others. There won;’t be the same level of customisation as the user-created male players but EA have stressed that this is the plan moving forward.
This is of course not the first time the publisher have made steps to include Women’s teams in their sports games. In 2016 EA added women’s team’s into FIFA 17. NBA Live 18 releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC later this year with a demo coming August 11.
