Netflix and Millarworld have announced that comic book Prodigy will be the next franchise to come from the joint venture.
The comic book, yet to hit shelves, will be available in stores and online on December 5th.
Prodigy sees the world’s smartest man, Edison Crane, not content with running the world’s most successful business. His mind needs constant challenge, and this is recognised by governments around the world who contact him when they find themselves with a problem they simply can’t handle alone. Nobel Prize-winning scientist, genius composer, Olympic-level athlete and expert in the occult, Crane is addicted to the world’s many mysteries, and Prodigy documents the adventures of this exceptional man.
Millar said of the story: “I gave myself a challenge when I created Prodigy. I wanted to write the smartest thing I’ve ever written and at the same time top any action set-pieces I’ve ever managed in the past and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how this has turned out. Edison Crane is by far the best character I’ve created in my career and I’m delighted that my genius friend Rafa Albuquerque is drawing the comic-book side of all this. He’s really one of the best artists in the world. I can’t wait to share this with everyone. This really is a beaut and we’re incredibly proud of it.”
Netflix recently gave the greenlight to two other series based on Millar’s stories – superhero epic Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus – as well as three films: Huck, Empress, and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter.
