Zack Snyder and Jay Oliva are teaming up with Netflix on a new original anime series which will be set in the world of Norse mythology.
Oliva and Snyder will write the series, with Oliva also serving as showrunner, director, and executive producer. Snyder will executive produce, with Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller producing through Stone Quarry Animation, their company’s new venture with Oliva.
John Derderian, head of Anime programming at Netflix said of the venture, “Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”
Netflix is already the global home of beloved anime titles like Ultraman, Aggretsuko, Castlevania, Devilman Crybaby, Godzilla: The Planet Eater, BAKI, Violet Evergarden, B: The Beginning, and The Seven Deadly Sins. There are more series on the way, as Netflix has boosted its effort in the area of Anime, with Magic: The Gathering, Pacific Rim, Altered Carbon, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, and Transformers – War for Cybertron also heading for the streaming platform.
