Nintendo have revealed that they are bringing Mario Kart to mobile devices. They took to Twitter to announce that the game is in development and will release sometime before march 2019.
This is of course a continuation in Nintendo‘s new focus on mobile devices. They have already brought the mustachio’d plumber to mobiles in the form of Super Mario Run. As well as that they have also released Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Pokemon Go, Miitomo and Fire Emblem Heroes.
Nintendo has been taking a different tact with their mobile releases to their competitors. They seem to be selling their games as premium, one-time purchases rather than the microtransaction-heavy strategies employed by others.
No further details regarding Mario Kart Tour were released other than the soft release window. You can check out the announcement tweet below which is part of a number of announcements from the company today. Details were revealed for Nintendo’s upcoming paid online service, SNES Classic sales figures were released and the Mario movie was confirmed.
