After being planned for release in 2017, the Nintendo Switch paid online service will now launch in September 2018. Little was revealed about the service other than the fact that it will cost $3.99 a month or $19.99 a year. This places the service as a significantly cheaper option compared to its competitors Xbox Live and PlayStation Plus.
The news was announced via the Nintendo Twitter account in a tweet you can view below.
Little to be gleaned so far then but the low price indicates to me that this will solely be a way to play games online and is unlikely to come with any free games in the same way PS Plus and Xbox Live do. This news comes as part of a series of juicy tidbits revealed from Nintendo today. Mario Kart Tour was announced for mobile devices, SNES Classic sales were revealed and the animated Mario movie was confirmed. It’s a great time to be a Nintendo fan then.
