Madeleine may be the key to his undoing.
During last weekend’s Super Bowl, MGM released a teaser for the upcoming 007 film, and Daniel Craig’s last outing as Bond, No Time To Die.
The 30-second look begins with Daniel Craig’s Bond and new 007 Lashana Lynch flying a plane as the franchise’s signature score weaves through clips of the cast, including new villain Safin (Rami Malek) look every bit as sinister as you would expect a Bond villain to be.
We also get a glimpse of Léa Seydoux’s Madeleine Swann standing on the ledge of a building, as Malek’s character reveals, “When her secret finds its way out, it will be the death of him.”
Cary Joji Fukunaga directs No Time To Die off a script from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Waller-Bridge is only the second woman ever to be credited with writing a Bond script, the other being Johanna Harwood, who wrote the franchise’s first two entries, Dr. No and From Russia With Love. It’s reported that Craig himself requested that Waller-Bridge be brought on board to polish the script.
When speaking to Deadline about the project, Waller-Bridge said, “There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not [the Bond franchise] is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women. I think that’s bollocks. I think he’s absolutely relevant now. It has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats women properly. He doesn’t have to. He needs to be true to this character.”
No Time To Die is set for release on April 2nd in the UK, and April 10th in the US.
