Those who attended the Netflix & Chills panel at NYCC were treated to a sneak peak at the streaming giant’s upcoming series, The Umbrella Academy, adapted from a comic by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.

The story focuses on a strange family of superheroes called the Hargreeves.

Tom Hopper plays super-strong Luther Hargreeves (Spaceboy), David Castañeda is his brother Diego (The Kraken), Emmy Raver-Lampman is Allison (The Rumour), Aidan Gallagher is Number Five (The Boy), Robert Sheehan is Klaus (The Séance), and Ellen Page is Vanya (The White Violin) – while Cameron Britton and Mary J. Blige star as time-travelling assassins Hazel and Cha Cha, respectively. All cast members were present at the panel.

Before the panel began, they unveiled a sneak peek at some footage from the series, which Entertainment Weekly described as follows: “The footage began like the first issue of the comic, explaining that one day in 1989 a series of women who had not previously been pregnant suddenly gave birth to unexpected children. The mysterious rich benefactor Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) adopts seven of them and molds them into the superhero team known as the Umbrella Academy. The show picks up 17 years later, when the elder Hargreeves’ death brings his adoptive children back together after years apart — except for the one formerly known as Number Six, who has since died.”

The show’s official Twitter account also shared the official character posters, which you can check out below:

The Umbrella Academy hits Netflix on February 15th, 2019.
