This August, the UK’s favourite arcade, indie and retro games are coming to London in the only event that’s driven by community and completely family-friendly.
Hundreds of PC’s, pinballs, consoles, handhelds and arcades running the best of classic and modern games will be available for attendees to play – completely free!
PLAY Expo is organised by experienced video game events specialists, Replay Events, and will be showing more features, exhibitors and retro gaming than London has ever seen before.
Relive your childhood gaming memories with a selection of over 120 classic arcade games that are free to play. Just some of the titles you’ll be able to play are Mortal Kombat, House of the Dead, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Street Fighter and Daytona USA, with many more still yet to be confirmed.
London Pinball and Flip Out London are joining forces to bring all the best pinball tables to PLAY Expo, with a selection of tables that include Ghostbusters, Batman 66, Space Invaders, AC/DC Premium, Dirty Harry, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and dozens more yet to be announced.
PLAY Expo specialise in all things retro, and the retro zone will be packed out with systems from PlayStation 3 to Pong.
Replay Celebrations will represent some of best games from the biggest franchises, genres, and film crossovers, like Mario, Star Wars, Sonic, Lego, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, James Bond and everything in between.
Replay Ages is a slice of nostalgia, exhibiting 40 years of retro gaming, with a selection of consoles and computers running the biggest and best games for each system. Whether Commodore, Sinclair, Nintendo, Sony, Sega or Xbox, there’ll be something for you.
The Replay Lounges are groups of four-player, single-screen games where players can brush elbows with their fellow gamers while power through a lap of Mario Kart, a Super Smash Brothers battle, or even a round of Goldeneye.
This console zone will have a selection of the latest Triple-A PS4 and Xbox One titles for you to try your hand at, and even some Xbox Live and PSN games that you might not have seen before. As well as this, PC fans will be able to test their skills on a smattering of high-spec PCs running the latest indie games.
Speaking of indie games, PLAY Expo will be bringing some of the latest and greatest games like Rocket League, Gang Beasts and Overcooked, as well as some of the classic games that kick-started the revolution like Fez, Braid, and Super Meat Boy.
PLAY Expo tournaments are a must for many gamers, and the organisers have teamed up with some of the biggest gaming communities in London to make sure there’s something for everyone.
East London Fighters will run fighting tournaments all weekend, across titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, and Street Fighter V.
District G will be running FIFA 2018 tournaments all weekend, for both casual gamers who want to do more and serious eSports talent looking to make their way through the competitive leagues.
DAT Team will be running Super Smash Bros Wii-U tournaments all weekend, coming off a hot streak after completing Albion 3, the largest European Smash Bros. tournament of the year so far and the largest open bracket in British FGCs.
PuyoGB will run Puyo Puyo Tetris tournaments all weekend long, as well as a free-play zone, where gamers can experience the PS4 version of this crossover game – so whether your new to the game or a seasoned professional, you can share in the fun.
On Saturday only, Sami Cetin and Leyla Hasso, the two fastest Super Mario Kart SNES players in the UK will be running a tournament for guests, as well as doing some live demonstrations of all the Multiplayer Modes ahead of the following week’s World Championships.
With a number of Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Playstation VR setups running demos and games, there will be plenty of chances for you to escape into a virtual world – and if you’ve never tried VR before, PLAY Expo will have staff on hand to guide you through it.
The LAN Gaming area will be kitted out with the latest gaming keyboards, and a range of titles that are sure to please fans including Unreal Tournament, StarCraft, Counter Strike, Battlefield 1942, DOOM, Quakle 2 and many more.
Get into the groove with the best of music, dance and rhythm-action based games from across the globe – from classic like Gamecube Donkey Konga and PlayStation Parappa the Rapper, to hidden gems like PlayStation 2 Taiko Drum Master, Xbox 360 DJ Hero and a PS4 Rock Band 4 professional kit.
One of the very special parts of the expo is that gamers get the chance to meet the people responsible for their favourite childhood games – and PLAY Expo London is no different. Just a few of the guests on the weekend’s list are Sega artist Duncan Gutteridge, The Bitmap Brothers founder Mike Montgomery and Dropzone developer Archer MacLean. Find out about more guests here.
As well as all the gaming goodness, there will also be a number of features around the ’80s hit series Knightmare, the fantasy adventure gameshow that made extensive use of blue screen to send its participants to another world. Meet Dungeon Master Treguard (Hugo Myatt), backdrop artist David Rowe, and live adaptation creator Paul Flannery. For an additional £10 per person, you can experience the hit stage show Knightmare Live at PLAY Expo on either day of the weekend.
As well as all this, there will be cosplay and a shopping hall, sure to make PLAY Expo the best weekend ever!

Tickets for the event range from ONE-DAY tickets for Adults at £20, and Children at £14, WEEKEND tickets for Adults at £34, and Children at £24 – as well as offers for FAMILY tickets. But, there will be no tickets available on the door, so you need to head to PLAY Expo’s website to purchase them ahead of the event.
