And are closing in on a new director
Dan Trachtenberg may have left Sony’s Uncharted film, the film adaptation of the best-selling videogame set to star Spider-Man actor Tom Holland – but PlayStation Productions has come on board to produce, and the studios are currently closing in on a new director for the project.
According to Deadline, meetings are currently underway to find Trachtenberg’s replacement, and a new director will likely be in place in the next few months, with a view for production on the film to begin early next year.
The Uncharted film marks the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions, which was set up by Sony last year.
Written for the screen by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, the film will follow a young Nathan Drake, as he grows to be the treasure hunter he is in the games. The video game series was created by Naughty Dog and has sold more than 41 million copies to date.
