Not long after it was announced that Judge Dredd was coming to TV with the Mega-City One series in production, Rebellion Developments have now teased that a video game could also be on its way.

In an interview with The Express, Rebellion founder Jason Kingsley teased when we might be seeing Dredd again in video game form:

“We’ve had a lot of people interested in working with us, and their visions for our intellectual properties, which is really exciting. I would reckon towards the end of this year/beginning of next, we’ll start to see the fruits of that and start to announce things that we’re working on and show people what’s going on. Fingers crossed we’ll get some more 2000 AD games soon.”

However, when he was pushed on which 2000 AD properties Rebellion is working on, he hinted that their efforts are focused on Dredd:

“Well Judge Dredd is obviously one of our major comic book characters so I would be surprised if there wasn’t going to be some activity around Judge Dredd, but we’re not actually announcing anything.”

When last we saw Dredd on console, it was in 2003’s Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death, which was not well-received. Rebellion then brought the character to mobile gaming in 2012’s Judge Dredd vs. Zombies – but there’s been nothing since.

And while other 2000 AD properties include Halo Jones, Strontium Dog, and Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd is the most logical title for Rebellion to be working on.
