The CW made a lot of fans incredibly happy when they announced that Ruby Rose will be taking on the role of Batwoman in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover – but no fan was quite as happy as Rose herself, who shared a touching message with fans after the announcement was made.
Last month, The CW broke the news that they would be expanding their Arrowverse by adding fan-favourite comic book character Kate Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman – even announcing that they would by following this appearance with a Batwoman series debuting in 2019.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Rose had won the coveted superhero role, and the actress took to Instagram to tell fans how thrilled she is to be cast, and what it means to her to be the first openly gay superhero to headline their own show:

The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck.. because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different. Thank you everyone. Thank you god.
The majority of fans have expressed their delight at the casting choice, and the comments of support attached to Rose’s Instagram post certainly reinforce that.
Fans aren’t going to have to wait long to see Rose’s Batwoman take to the CW screen, as she will appear in this December’s Arrowverse crossover alongside the casts of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl, as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is skipping this year’s event.
