It’s about time someone did.
Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Avengers: Endgame are bringing a new documentary series, Slugfest, to Quibi which will chronicle the decades-long rivalry between Marvel and DC.
Quibi, the mobile TV subscription service founded by Jeffrey Katzenberg, greenlit the series, inspired by Reed Tucker’s book Slugfest: Inside the Epic, 50-Year Battle between Marvel and DC. The docu-series will chronicle the growth of the comic book industry as a new American artform, following the rise of Marvel and DC, the two companies that went on to become powerhouses in the comics-publishing and in Hollywood.
The producers promise that Slugfest will bring to light lesser-known stories from the history of both companies, including interviews with creators of some of the best-known superhero characters in the world. Among the aspects explored in the show, will be the history behind the first official Marvel/DC crossover comic in the ’70s which saw Spider-Man and Superman come face-to-face.
