They’re working on it
It’s been around nine months since the Disney-Fox merger was finalised, and comic book fans have been excitedly waiting to see what comes of the movie rights to X-Men returning to Marvel – especially with regards to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. However, Reynolds has assured fans that a third outing for the Merc with a Mouth is on the way.
Reynolds appeared on Live With Kelly and Ryan, where he showed off a family photo where one of his kids is wearing a Deadpool mask, prompting co-host Ryan Seacrest to ask if Deadpool 3 is coming anytime soon.
“We’re working on it with the whole team,” the actor said. “We’re over at Marvel now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kind of crazy.”
It might not be much of an update, but it’s definitely comforting for fans to hear that despite the big move, Deadpool has been forgotten, and Marvel is working to keep the franchise’s spirit alive.
Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said late last year, “Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox. Our feeling and Ryan’s feeling is that it’s got to be the right idea, it’s got to be great… I think once we collectively agree what idea that great idea is we’ll be off to the races.”
