Though its first season split audiences, Marvel’s Iron Fist is coming back for a second season, and the Netflix series is set to begin filming again next month.
Finn Jones and the rest of the cast are reportedly due to begin filming Season 2 of the Marvel Series in New York City in early December, as spotted on production listing by SpoilerTV. Despite a largely negative critical reception, Iron Fist will move forward with a new showrunner in the form of Raven Metzner, who is taking over from Inhumans’ Scott Buck.
With production beginning next month, they are presumably aiming for a late-2018 or early-2019 release, to fit in around the other series that are currently in development: Jessica Jones’ second season wrapped a couple of months ago, Daredevil Season 3 is set to begin filming as early as next week, and Luke Cage Season 2 is currently in production. However, the next Marvel series to stream on Netflix is The Punisher, which premieres in less than a week (November 17th) starring Jon Bernthal in the titular role.
In August, Finn Jones was quoted as saying, “We’re at least four or five months away from shooting, so this time around, I’m being given a lot more preparation leading up to Season 2, which I think is really gonna have a huge improvement on the quality of the fight scenes in Season 2 of Iron Fist.”
Let’s hope so.
Season 2 of Iron Fist does not currently have a release date.
