DC’s Shazam! has officially started filming, with director David F. Sandberg sharing the first photo from the film set.

Though Wonder Woman and Justice League were both released in 2017, this year’s only offering from DC will be James Wan’s Aquaman. However, 2019 is shaping up to be a good one from DC and Warner Bros., as they have two films lined up in the form of Sandberg’s Shazam! and Patty JenkinsWonder Woman sequel.

Shazam! will feature a lot of kid-friendly fun, as it attempts to recapture the Golden Age spirit of the titular character to life, and now that production is officially underway, we should get a clearer picture about how the film will do just that.

Sandberg posted the first official set photo to his social media accounts, confirming that filming is indeed underway. It will shoot under the working title ‘Franklin’ and as filming has begun, it shouldn’t have trouble meeting its April 2019 theatrical release.
