Two years since John Krasinski was first confirmed for the role of Jack Ryan, the Amazon series finally has a premiere date.

Following the initial teaser trailer release at New York Comic-Con last year, this new trailer confirms that we will get an extended look at the Jack Ryan trailer after the Super Bowl halftime show. Watch the full spot above, which includes soundbites from Presidents Kennedy, Reagan, Bush, Obama and Trump, along with a decent cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” from Devlin and Ed Sheeran.

Directed by Morten Tyldum (Passengers, Imitation Game) and starring Krasinski in the titular role, the eight-episode series also features Abbie Cornish as Cathy Mueller, a doctor specialising in infectious diseases, Peter Fonda as Cathy’s father, and Wendell Pierce as Ryan’s boss, James Greer.

The show’s official synopsis highlights the contemporary take on Ryan in his CIA prime:

“The drama follows Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale. Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel, The Strain) and Graham Roland (Almost Human) penned the script and developed the project together.

The drama is a co-production between Paramount Television and Skydance Television. Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form exec produce alongside Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross with Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer also on board.”

Jack Ryan will air on Amazon on August 31st.
