The 2018 Arrowverse crossover, Elseworlds, has unveiled its first poster, and…it’s unusual to say the least.
Arrow star Stephen Amell unveiled the poster on Twitter, which sees him and Flash actor Grant Gustin having swapped super identities. Amell captioned the post with, “My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive”:

The actor then confirmed that the poster was real, by posting a follow-up tweet where he claimed to be wearing the Flash costume at that moment.
What we can gather from this poster, and the various set pictures that have been posted since, is that the two will be taking each other’s roles. It’s not clear yet as to whether they will play their characters as the alternate heroes, or whether they will assume the entire identity for the crossover.

While the idea of Arrow and Flash trading places is an intriguing one, it does leave us wondering why the other heroes don’t appear to be switching identities?
Unfortunately, with the crossover airing in December, we likely won’t know much about Elseworlds’ story for a while yet, but we’ve got plenty of time to speculate why Barry and Oliver might have changed places.
Elseworlds kicks off with The Flash on December 9th, continues with Arrow on December 10th, and concludes with Supergirl on December 11th.
