Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that they are planting seeds which could result in the introduction of the Young Avengers.

Created by Allen Heinberg and Jim Cheung, the superhero team began in 2005 and consisted of teenage members, most of who had personal connections to Marvel’s primary heroes.

While plans for Phase 4 of the MCU are being kept firmly under wraps, it seems that Feige and his team are already looking to set up the Young Avengers. During an Ant-Man and The Wasp press conference, Heroic Hollywood asked him whether there were any plans in the pipeline for a Young Avengers film – and surprisingly, instead of saying something very non-commital, Feige was quite forthcoming, stating that they are actively “planting seeds” to bring the young heroes into the fold.

Feige answered a question regarding whether we will be seeing the young heroes like the Young Avengers on TV, joining either Runaways or Cloak & Dagger:

“Well…sure. And both of those you just mentioned we talked about for a long time and they went over to be successful TV shows. We’ve always been fans of Power Pack and figuring that out. And yes. So…where and when we would see the evolution of that? I don’t know. And certainly – taking our cue from the comics as we always do – that’s why we wanted Cassie, a very young Cassie in this movie, to be inspired by her father. Just planting seeds.”

The comments Feige makes about Cassie Lang are particularly interesting, as this can be linked to the Avengers 4 casting of an older actress in the role of Ant-Man’s daughter – as while many brushed this off as being part of the time travelling antics of the Infinity War sequel, Feige’s comments here do confirm that this is setting up an aspect of the MCU’s future.

This is also backed up by a ScreenRant interview with Ant-Man star Paul Rudd that suggests that the third Ant-Man film will be focusing on the father-daughter relationship between Scott and Cassie, much like the way in which Hope and Hank’s relationship has been explored in Ant-Man and The Wasp.

More on Young Avengers when we have it.
