It’s less creepy at least.
Back when the first trailer for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film was released, the backlash for their incredibly weird and creepy design for Sonic was heavy. So heavy that Paramount and director Jeff Fowler decided they would redesign and present fans with a version of the character that was more in line with expectations.
Now, it seems that the new design of Sonic has surfaced, and it looks a lot more like the character fans know and love, with his look having been completely changed.
Twitter user BestInTheGalaxy posted the first-look images to his account, citing his source as a “friend in Paramount Studios” and in the images, we also get a little peek of Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik – which, let’s be honest, is probably going to be the highlight of the film.
Check out the first trailer below:
Paramount’s synopsis of the film reads: “SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.”
Sonic the Hedgehog is currently slated for release on February 14th, 2020. The perfect Valentines film.
