It seems that the Uncharted film is beginning to near production, as sources have claimed that director Shawn Levy has a solid script to work from as well as a star in Tom Holland.

In an interview with The Playlist, the film’s director Shawn Levy gave an update on the almost forgotten film, stating that it has its star and there is a script ready to work from – and it is much closer to production than the other film he is working on, Starman.

Levy told The Playlist: “As of right now, the closest to the starting line is Uncharted in that it’s a massive title. We now have a very good script and we have our star in Tom Holland. That is now subject to schedule and additional casting. But I would say as of right now, that seems to be the most near horizon. And it’s a movie I’m very excited about.”

The Uncharted film has been in the works for some time, with Sony beginning work on it as far back as 2009. When Holland was cast as the young Nathan Drake back in May 2017, the studio were reportedly still busy looking for a screenwriter, after having scrapped Joe Carnahan’s completed script.

While there are still a number of fans out there desperate to see Nathan Fillion take to the big screen as Nathan Drake, that may be closer to a reality after the actor made his own fan film that put him in the central role.
