It has been revealed that Love/Hate star, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is rumoured to be playing Ebony Maw, a member of the Black Order, aka Team Thanos, in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Infinity War.
During an interview, the Irish actor was asked whether he will be in the movie, to which he replied:
“I am. But it’s like I’m one of those ones where you go into a sentence to say something about it and hope you have a job at the end of the sentence. You sign so many documents and waivers and people ask you about it and you have to give the generic and boring, ‘I can’t say too much about it’. But I am doing it and it’s really amazing and an amazing thing to be part of.”
It was also revealed in the interview that he was subjected to extra background checks before casting in order to ensure he wasn’t at risk of leaking information:
“With social media there’s so much potential for leaks so [Marvel] understandably want to micro-manage things and make sure it goes out when they are ready. They didn’t know me, so when I went over they were meeting me for the first time. They do background checks to make sure you’re not a white supremacist and they’re not hiring someone with weird baggage.”
Ebony Maw has the ability to manipulate minds without the person knowing that they are under his control, and recently Vaughan-Lawlor was spotted in a set photo, wrestling with Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, dressed in a motion capture suit.
Avengers: Infinity War is to be released April 27th 2018 in the UK and May 4th 2018 in the US.
