The first trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread has been released, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, in what is likely his last role before retiring from acting.
Set in 1950s, post-war London, Day-Lewis stars as Reynolds Woodcock, a renowned British dressmaker, whose clients include royalty, movie stars heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames, who all sport garments in the distinct design of The House of Woodcock.
Many women come and go through Woodcock’s life, but one day he comes across Alma (Vicky Krieps) – who’s a young and strong-willed woman, working as a waitress. He quickly becomes infatuated with her, as she becomes a fixture in his life, as both muse and lover. Soon, however, Woodcock’s carefully tailored life becomes disrupted by this love.
Phantom Thread is set for release this Christmas.
