Finally, the Tom Holland pic has a new director.

Sony Pictures is set to hire Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight to helm Uncharted, the film adaptation of the highly-successful PlayStation game.

The film is set to begin production early next year.

Knight began his career as lead animator at the stop-motion animation studio, Laika, on films such as Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls. The Transformers spinoff Bumblebee was his first venture into live-action directing.

Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are set to produce for Atlas Entertainment, with Avi Arad and Ari Arad producing for Arad Productions.

Sony PlayStation’s Uncharted

From a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, the Uncharted film is set to capture the protagonist Nathan Drake as a young man, before he grows into the treasure hunter that we know from the videogame series.

Created by Naughty Dog and published by PlayStation, Uncharted has sold over 41 million copies to-date. The film will become the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions, which was set up at Sony last year by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, who will also executive produce.
