Looney Tunes’ Wile E. Coyote is heading to the big screen in his own feature film, to be written by Jon and Josh Silberman.
Coyote Vs. Acme will see the producers of CBS’ Living Biblically bring Road Runner’s nemesis to the silver screen in his own feature-length flick – and from the title it seems that the film may tackle the “Super Genius” and his rocky relationship with Acme and their many products that have failed to stop his speedy nemesis.
Director of The Lego Batman Movie, Chris McKay is producing the film.
In the last 22 years only two Looney Tunes films have made it to the big screen – with varying success. 1996’s Space Jam made $230.4 million worldwide, while 2003’s Looney Tunes: Back in Action made considerably less with around $70 million worldwide.
Neither of the films were that well-received by critics, and split audiences, but perhaps the slapstick potential of Wile E. Coyote will offer up a more exciting prospect for the writers.
