HBO has given a series order to Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen, a take on the iconic limited comic series from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.
Set for a 2019 premiere, the project boasts an incredible cast, that includes the likes of Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson and Louis Gossett Jr.
Embracing the nostalgia of the original ground-breaking comic while carving out its own path, Watchmen is set in an alternate history where superheroes are viewed as outlaws, and as Lindelof said in an open letter to fans, the series isn’t an adaptation of the 12 issues, but an original story which remixes them all.
The cast also includes Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.
HBO are hoping to get the series into production as soon as possible for a 2019 premiere.
